LUMINARY
ARCHAIC- a natural light-giving body, especially the sun or moon.
 
The Luminary collection of oil paintings celebrates the loving relationship between light and the ocean. Coming from a time of life changes these paintings represent my own emotional journey over the course of several months.
 
I have focused a lot on the way I capture light and the collection is comprised of dreamy seascapes with the sun and moon having particular emphasis.
 
I tend to paint with my feelings and emotions driving me and when times are rough, you’ll see big stormy seascapes reflecting how I’m feeling, I am an optimist though so there will always be a shining light through the clouds as a reminder that things will get better, and the storm will pass. 
 
the last few months I’ve been focusing a lot on my wellbeing; mentally and physically. I’ve made a lot of changes and one thing that has had a big impact on me, and my work is my daily yoga practice. Finding mental clarity, relaxing the mind, enjoying calmness, and taking the time to simply appreciate has brought out a new style in my work that is different to my usual style of painting.  
 
This collection goes back to my root inspirations of escape and sanctuary; being able to escape the chaos of everyday life and find a sanctuary within the artwork, even if just for a moment.
